Frequently Asked Questions
Getting started
-
Maia Wellness is a Pittsburgh-based corporate wellness company. We bring live breathwork, mindful movement, and meditation into the workday through virtual sessions, in-person events, and team retreats. Sessions run on a consistent schedule built around your calendar, so wellness becomes part of how your team works, not one more thing to remember.
-
Live, expert-led sessions of 15 to 30 minutes, weekly or biweekly. We handle setup: calendar invites, recurring invites, and HR communication templates. You get quarterly engagement reports tracking participation and feedback. Teams can add in-person events or a retreat when they're ready.
-
Book a free consultation. We learn about your team, your goals, and your schedule, and you get a free 20-minute virtual wellness session so your team can try it before committing. From there, we recommend a format and cadence that fits.
Sessions and logistics
-
No. Every session is designed for people who have never done yoga, breathwork, or meditation. Instruction is clear and practical, and nothing requires flexibility or prior knowledge. Experienced participants still get value, because the focus is on tools they can use in a real workday.
-
No mat and no change of clothes. Sessions are built for people in work clothes, at their desks or in a conference room. Mindful movement uses seated and standing desk-friendly sequences for the neck, shoulders, hips, and back.
-
Sessions run 15 to 30 minutes, twice or four times a month. That's short enough to fit between meetings and frequent enough to build a habit. Consistency matters more than length.
-
Sessions run live on Zoom. Employees join from the link in their calendar invite, and because sessions are live, not pre-recorded, the facilitator adjusts to the group in real time.
-
Yes. Movement is gentle and every exercise includes modifications. Participants are encouraged to skip anything that doesn't feel right. Sessions are not a substitute for medical care, and anyone with a specific condition should check with their doctor.
Fit and results
-
Yes. Our sessions are built for high-pressure, deadline-driven environments like law firms and other client-facing professional teams. Long sedentary days, client demands, and constant deadlines make short, structured resets especially useful. Sessions fit into a lunch hour or between meetings and give people practical tools for focus and stress regulation.
-
Burnout builds when people push through the day without a real pause. Regular sessions build that pause into the schedule: breathwork to calm the stress response, movement to release tension from sitting, and meditation to clear mental clutter. Because sessions run consistently, the habit sticks, and employees learn tools they can use on their own.
-
Yes. Slow, controlled breathing helps the body shift out of a stressed state, which makes it easier to concentrate. Short guided meditations train attention, the same skill people need to stay on task between meetings and deadlines. Every session gives participants a technique they can use in a few minutes at their desk.
-
They can, when people actually use them, which is why we focus on consistency. Our quarterly engagement reports show who's participating and how they rate sessions, so you can see the program's value instead of guessing. A regular practice is also a visible sign that leadership takes employee wellbeing seriously, which matters to people deciding whether to stay.
-
We send quarterly engagement reports tracking participation and participant feedback over time. You see who's showing up, how people rate sessions, and how engagement changes as the practice becomes routine.
-
Breathwork uses specific breathing techniques to regulate the nervous system; a few minutes shifts your physiological state. Yoga (mindful movement) is desk-friendly stretching that releases tension from sitting. Meditation is guided practice that builds focus and the ability to reset under pressure. Most sessions combine all three.em description
